Me, Cooking, Thanksgiving.....

You read that right, I cooked my FIRST ever Thanksgiving meal. As of right now, our oldest (Cade) may be going out of town with his Mother & Family. We are going to miss him for sure if he is not able to be with us on Thanksgiving day, so I wanted to make sure we had a  FAMILY meal either way. So, as of yesterday around lunch, I decided we were having Thanksgiving dinner. I have never cooked Thanksgiving dinner before and the person who cook a majority of our dinner was in Michigan, my Mama. She was the cafeteria manager at the elementary school I attended and was a cook for 14 years.... She has taught me everything I know about cooking and she is my go to person when I have a question. I acted like it was no BIG DEAL to the hubby nor my MIL but y'all, I was a nervous wreck yesterday trying to figure out all I needed. Most of all, I worried about my turkey being under cooked or over cooked. I got a fresh turkey (2.38) a pound, when my dad paid (0.59) for his turkey, my turkey was a huge turkey breast (had no legs), I panicked. Needless to say it was just fine and delicious. We had none left. I recommend using this product, it made the turkey.
My dad helped me "inject it" and it was very juicy and moist. It tempted at the right tempt and was done cooking 30 mins before we ate, I was smiling ear to ear.
I cooked the following
  • Turkey
  • Homemade Cornbread Dressing ( Mama is Famous for this.... Dad helped me learn how to make it, He done a perfect job. Tasted the same as Mama's)
  • Homemade Mashed Potatoes
  • Macaroni & Cheese
  • Corn
  • Gravy
  • Rolls
Granny Made
  • Green Beans
  • Sweet Potato Casserole
  • Banana Pudding
  • Pumpkin Pie
My MIL Brought
  • Brownies & Ice Cream
My SIL Brought
  • Strawberry Bread
  • Fudge Pie
  • Cake Pops
Needless, to say it was DELICIOUS!!!! I am so very proud of myself. Everyone loved it. Daddy led our prayer and I got all choked up missing my Mama. She will be back Wednesday, she has been taking care of her Daddy, who is very ill in Michigan. She has been gone since the beginning of the month and we all miss her so much!
